MLS Players Still Working on Agreement
The players union and the MLS are still waiting on a collective bargaining agreement.
It is apparent that no deal has been made even though they met in Washington and discussed different agreements. Since the two parties did not meet this Tuesday and the deadline is coming up quickly, this could lead to a possible soccer strike. Here are few notes on the progress of the talks so far. Negotiations thrive on last minute pressure and small windows of opportunity are the first thing to note. The differing parties start compromising where many of these kinds of talks go down to the last minute. This does not mean that agreements always come before the deadline, so there is still a chance that a work stoppage could happen.
The players union needs to either make a deal or get ready for a long strike are the facts. Over the next two days, the pressure is on the union to be strong and resolved. If they choose to make a deal they need to make the MLS give up some meaningful ground somewhere along the lines.
The union needs to be prepared to have a lengthy strike and not budge, if no collective bargaining agreement can be reached. This will be done until MLS decides to finally give in somewhere. Anything less than this and the players union will be in trouble for future agreements and bargains that are to be reached. You can bet this game with this sports betting group.
